Shattered (Kintsukuroi)

“I love you”
Words that fall
And shatter
When not bolstered by action:
Skin to skin
Or words of tenderness
Or even-keeled presence

Love is action
Not cutting word of longing
Harsh in the empty echo
Of what could have been

No you don’t
Whisper of truth on the tip of tongue
Words at the ready to wound
it’s not too late
Ever hopeful
That we pick up pieces

Brilliant and resilient and gold

On finding beauty and wisdom in the cracks, recognition that cracks are not flaws, and learning to love well. Written for friends and self. “The wound is the place where the light enters you” (-Rumi)
